About Moose Tours
So you want to get up close to the largest animal in the north woods?
Come with Young’s Guide Service to pursue one of North America’s largest animals, the Maine Moose. There are more moose in Maine than anywhere else in the lower 48 and the Moosehead Lake region around Greenville, Maine has a density of more than 1.3 moose per square mile. Your Registered Maine Guide, Chris Young, was raised in the woods and on the waters of Maine and knows the area like his own backyard. Chris has spent much of his life learning the habits and “language” of the Maine moose and by gaining this knowledge Chris earned the title of the 2013 National Moose Calling Champion. He will guide you to the best locations weather it be on the water or in the woods for viewing moose and position you up close for a safe and memorable experience with some great moose viewing! Your private Maine moose tour will be scheduled around the best viewing times, the first and last four hours of daylight. Chris will pick you up in town or at your lodging with one of his comfortable and fully equipped 4×4 vehicles. Because we offer only private tours you can be assured that you and your family will receive Chris’s full one on one attention. Our moose tours have over a 90% viewing success rate.
In June the bulls have just started their annual growth of moose antlers and the cows have calved one or two baby moose. July is the period of rapid antler growth for the bulls. By mid September they have shed the velvet covering and sport the hard moose antlers for the breeding season which lasts through early October. At this time the bulls often aggressively respond to calling. Many Maine outfitters consider this one of the most unique things to do in Maine and a high-point of outdoor recreation.
