We had a fantastic moose trip with Chris on Friday! It was very windy, which Chris explained makes moose very skittish. Because of his experience and extensive knowledge of moose behavior, Chris was able to give us great views of nine moose. He’s very enthusiastic and personable , and works hard to give you a great experience, sharing his knowledge about moose, other wildlife and the area. It was nice to have just our family on the trip making it a more personal experience. He got us up close with multiple moose while working around all the fog which made it hard to see. If you're dreaming of wildlife instead of sugarplums, an excursion with Chris is the gift you didn’t know you always deserved. Seeking adventure in the form of a moose safari, we recently planned a getaway to Greenville. After extensively researching tours, we decided to book with Beth and Chris. Not only did they have a ton of 5 star reviews, their moose photos put Nat Geo to shame. Needless to say, our expectations were high. Before our arrival, we were in constant communication with Beth. She made us feel like VIP’s and went above and beyond to make sure we knew exactly what to expect. Thank you, Beth, for your boundless hospitality. Someone needs to call Santa and let him know you’re the real MVP. After much anticipation, it was finally time for our tour. With the exception of Christmas morning, I can safely say that there have been very few days I’ve jumped out of bed at 4am, but we couldn’t wait to start. Chris graciously picked us up and answered our 638294 questions (spoiler alert: I’m rounding down) about everything from moose to Greenville to lumber. He made us feel like lifelong friends, and his palpable passion for animals, nature, and ME is second to none. There are no guarantees in life except that you will not find a better guide than Chris. Our tour was an unparalleled, unforgettable success. Chris braved the rain and tirelessly searched until we found two wild moose, including a mischievous calf in trouble with mom (my spirit animal). We also saw two deer and two beavers! Tell Bruno Mars I'm completely cool with being locked out of heaven when experiences this cool exist on earth. My wife and I had the pleasure of spending a day with Chris & Jolene out on Moosehead Lake. It was evident early on that Chris Young was very rooted in the area and had a deep knowledge of the wildlife and ecosystem around Moosehead Lake. I’ve been with guides, his service is top tier. Everything was well prepared and organized from the get go - having a heater on in the cabin area and even having Benadryl available when my wife commented about allergies. Chris offered the perfect mix of guiding and teaching, allowing us to jump in whenever possible. We were lucky to board his new Weldcraft and catch all three of the fish we were after. Brook Trout are beautiful. Jolene is a great addition to the crew, she pointed out a 5 foot Bald Eagle nest right next to their dock spot on our way out. I appreciated his advocacy of the local wildlife and the recreation of hunting. He has obviously spent a lot of “time in the woods” and eagerly shares his connection with it, one that is admirable. Chris and Jolene did a great job giving four of us a boat ride on Moose Lake. We saw a Bald Eagle, a nest and a juvenile. We also saw a Loon, peregrine Falcon and beautiful scenery. The boat is exceptional as well as Chris’s and Jolene’s knowledge of the history of the area. Cannot say enough good things about our experience. Our guide Chris was incredibly knowledgeable, not only about moose, but also about all things Maine and the Greenville area especially. He was more than happy to share that knowledge with us and answer all of the questions I had. I left the tour so much more knowledgeable about what to look for to find moose when out on my own and also all things Maine and the Greenville area. And he kept my easily bored son engaged and excited about the things we were seeing including moose tracks and beavers that we saw swimming around (very cool!) It was just the three of us and Chris in his comfortable vehicle, so it was very much a personalized experience. He made us feel like VIPs for sure. You can tell he is invested in ensuring his customers get the best experience possible. I have the feeling that he wouldn’t have given up very easily if for some reason he was having difficulty finding a moose for us to see. Obviously the most important part of a moose tour is actually seeing a moose. We saw three moose on our tour, including an enormous bull with a full rack. My wife, son, and I were thrilled to watch this amazing animal in its natural setting. Chris knew exactly where to go based on the weather, the time of year, and so many other factors I knew nothing about in relation to moose behavior prior to this tour. I feel I am so much better equipped to see moose moving forward when on our own. His knowledge was so impressive. In short, I cannot recommend this tour enough! Chris is definitely the guy you want if you want to see a moose, learn more than you could have expected, and just have a great conversation during the tour. EXCELLENTVerified Great Experience! Young’s Guide Service is where you need to go if you want to see some moose. You will be in very capable hands with Chris. Our excursion started pre-dawn. We saw many moose before the sun came up. Chris is very knowledgeable about moose and he knows where to go to see them. His years of experience are on full display. He truly cares about the animals and it shows. I was excited to see the moose and he seemed just as excited. We saw 13 moose on my trip! I even got to hear Chris use his moose calling talents. I had a great time and I highly recommend doing this tour. I plan on doing it again. Next time, I may add the boat trip to Mount Kineo because Chris mentioned the great new boat they bought.One more thing, it’s hard to beat Maine in the fall …. just beautiful.Posted onVerified Absolutely incredible experience! We’d planned this trip months in advance and it was better than we ever imagined it could be. The owner, Chris, is one of the best guides we’ve come upon. He was professional, knowledgeable and extremely capable of finding moose. We met him early in the morning since that’s when the moose are active. We rode in his comfy SUV for hours traversing timber company land. He had his CB active to ensure we didn’t come upon any logging trucks unexpectedly. His ability to both find and spot the moose was incredible! We were passing an area with lots of uprooted stumps. He noticed one of the black piles looked different and sure enough, it was a moose. We saw a mother and her tiny (yet long-legged) calf, twin yearlings who posed for us a long time, plus many others. All told, we saw 11 that day! As the morning progressed, we saw fewer moose, noticing only one in our last 45 minutes.
